On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the Committee wishes to propose a collaboration project between foundations for contemporary art and fine arts academies. The project aims to bring together the world of education, represented by the academies, as primary centres of higher education, specialisation and research in the artistic sector, and the professional sphere, represented by a group of foundations, belonging to the Committee, committed to the promotion of the young artistic generations.
Fondazione Merz and Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo will collaborate to present three of the most promising artists from the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino: Matilda Elia (currently enrolled), Volga Sisa (three-year degree, 2024), and Gabriele Provenzano (master’s degree, 2024). Their work is linked by a reflection around the themes of emotion and the body. Matilda Elia will open the project with a performance at the Fondazione Merz, followed by a group exhibition with the works of Gabriele Provenzano and Volga Sisa in the spaces of the Fondazione Sandretto.
Matilda Elia (Turin, 2002) investigates the profound relationship between body, sound and the imagined in her artistic research. Through the use of her own body, she recreates scenarios inspired by the world of theatre and all its elements: make-up, costumes, set design and music.
In the performance entitled Vibrazione interna, the artist transforms her body into a musical instrument, merging her skin with the music and becoming one with the sound. Through her works, Matilda not only tells stories but also seeks to engage the audience on a sensory and emotional level, exploring the infinite possibilities of connection between sound, body and space.
